Is the military-industrial-complex helping steal the American dream by funneling mass amounts of money to the already insanely-rich 1% at the top who themselves spend countless amounts of money to lobby Congress and rig the system in their favor? Remember, lobbying Congress to write laws that favor only the insanely rich, remember that such behavior is anything but Free-Market oriented. So to even the tables, should we tax that upper 1% or should we just round them up and stick them in jail for the crooks they are? Time for today's mathematics lesson.
An argument I offer from the Left:

We have spent somewhere between $1 trillion dollars and $3 trillion on the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Now, given the 3 million or so foreclosed homes I think that's right but I could be wrong, and the 8 million people out of work in America if you then consider the mathematics of the problem alone, this will astonish you. Doing the math, if the U.S. government employed all 8 million unemployed workers to the tune of $60K per year doing internal construction projects that could help rebuild the infrastructure of our nation, that would cost roughly $480 billion dollars per year. (8,000,000 X 60,000) = 480,000,000,000.

Now, if we also consider the 3 million foreclosed homes in America...there could be more, I'm not sure of that figure, but let us say 3 million for purposes of argument......if the government spent $200K on purchasing the loan of these homes, then the cost would be $600 billion dollars (3,000,000 X 200,000)=$600,000,000,000. So $600 billion plus $480 billion = $1.08 trillion dollars..........OH MY, isn't that the low-ball estimate of our wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.........my, oh my, look at that. Isn't that interesting?

Now, if the government employed all of those 8 million workers for say 5 years working on internal infrastructure building projects which could help strengthen American and revitalize many cities and towns economically, as well as employ the entire base of unemployed workers thus restoring the purchasing power of consumers, well that would cost 5 x 480billion (2.4 trillion) plus the $600 billion from relieving home-owners of all the foreclosures which would go a long way to sustaining local communities economically and help the common folks tremendously.

MY, OH MY, look at that, 2.4 trillion + .6 trillion equals 3 trillion dollars, the high-ball estimate of our wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. I wonder what the American people would appreciate more.......our endless wars in Afghanistan and Iraq or keeping their homes, keeping their jobs, being employed, revitalizing their communities all while rebuilding the internal infrastructure of American all of which can only help to revitalize the American economy.

So often do I hear some Conservatives retell the history of Jeffersonian vs. Hamiltonian forms of government as a contest between limited-government and strong-centralized government and while I think Jefferson would certainly have favored limited government where liberty is maximized as I, in part, do agree with that too, I think Jefferson would also be an avid proponent for State-subsidized higher education system made available to all citizens because a well-informed citizenry is a central pillar for preserving democracy and the American Republic.

Some people have a very strange idea about ideological politics. They define it in very narrow terms along a linear scale of measurement, that is, in their eyes, ideological politics is very neatly defined in a place that exists somewhere along a linear spectrum which is either Right or Left but I think this whole conception is complete nonsense. Ideological politics is not linear at all, in fact, it is more like an oval shape. Along various points but more on one end of the oval, there exists people who embrace absolute government where government is all powerful, absolute and totalitarian and these types of government include Despotism, Communism and Fascism. Along various points but on the other end of the oval, there exists people who embrace zero government, and this comes in various forms, anarchists and libertarian-extremists. However, I think most people reside somewhere closer to the center of this oval-shaped ideological spectrum, somewhere between the idea that too-much government is just as dysfunctional as the absence of any government.

In my view, subsidizing the military-industrial-complex as we spend exorbitant sums of money is too much government, while I also think that merely throwing cash at poor people rather than providing them the means and opportunities to earn a decent living on their own is also a good example of too much government. Rather, there is a more moderate place somewhere along the lines of, or inside the lines of, or somewhere around the lines of this more oval conception of ideological politics where people define themselves. I say all this so that you know that you do not have to choose between being Liberal or Conservative because these are inadequate measures to describe where people actually maintain their perspectives, for in fact you could be both Liberal and Conservative as I consider myself both and neither absolutely. If you have a cause to champion, then fight for it, but try to understand that the whole Left-Right framing of American politics is largely horseshit with no bearing on actual reality and serves merely as a means to keep the people divided against themselves. Unite people against the war, and realize that ideology and the inadequate terms we use to describe it are irrelevant. Ideology is irrelevant. Unite in common purpose against the war.

USING FREE SPEECH REQUIRES NEITHER MONEY NOR OWNERSHIP OF PROPERTY (AS YOU CAN SEE THE FEDS DID NOTHING)


As you can see, after I challenged the Federal Government to do something last night, they have done nothing because they can't do anything. There is nothing to be afraid of, folks, you have a right to exercise Free Speech and participate in the democratic system anytime you wish. So speak out. Now some elites think that in order to exercise Free Speech, one must have money to do so or own property..........the reality is that you need neither money nor do you need property to exercise Free Speech..
As far as the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision declaring the corporations are now human beings with Bill of Rights protections including the Right to Free Speech, well I think the U.S. Supreme Court can take that decision, roll it up and stick it where the sun don't shine.

I love it when the U.S. Federal Government throws a fastball like the one below. Do you know what a fastball is? A fastball, in baseball is a pitch thrown by the pitcher, which is, well, really fast and often right over the plate. These documents reveal the criminal enterprises in which senior-ranking officials of our government at the highest levels have engaged such as collecting credit-card data and DNA related data on leading U.N. officials; these documents reveal senior-ranking officials of our government engaging in activities that demonstrate a serious disregard for human-rights issues; and these documents reveal senior-ranking officials of our government engaging in vicious activities designed to suppress legitimate inquiries that seek justice and truth. So now ask yourself why would they do that?

The reason the revelation of these documents may do damage to our foreign relations, has little to do with Wikileaks, but it has a lot to do with the deplorable behavior of senior-ranking officials in top posts of the United States Federal Government. The crux of the problem, folks, is that foreign policy has been conducted in secret for so long, well outside the realm of the public eye, that it has become corrupt, corrosive, incompetent, downright nasty and often immoral. Foreign policy, because it is kept from the public eye, has itself become nasty because it is more about enforcing obedience to imperial rule than it is about garnering true respect by inspiring a world based on principled value-systems. The world does what we tell them to do not because we are some shining city upon a hill but because they fear our threats, they want our bribes, and they want our favor. So the reason why the U.S. Federal Government is vociferously trying to marginalize the Wikileaks release of data is because this information is A) deeply embarrassing to the U.S. Federal Government and B) because it opens up the legitimate possibility that power will be held to account. They don’t want to be held accountable, folks. This is new to them, you see. They want to rule the world without being held to account and that notion of zero transparency and zero accountability is an anathema to every known idea, principle and notion of democracy and the American Republic. The U.S. Federal Government hates Wikileaks and hates what they do, hates what I do and hates what I say, because the U.S. Federal Government fundamentally hates democracy and that is the uncomfortable truth. Instead they prefer to operate without oversight, without transparency, without public knowledge, without accountability, and instead with total impunity.

The problem is the way our senior government officials behave because it is how they behave that is hurting U.S. foreign relations. Thank goodness to Wikileaks for making this transparency and accountability, both hallmarks of a democracy, possible. Perhaps, if policy were more transparent, then officials would act differently since they would be more accountable, but this of course would make it that much more difficult to maintain the Empire. So the question is ultimately the same: Are you more loyal to the Empire or are you more loyal to American democracy? I am a loyal, patriotic citizen who loves his country and I am first and foremost dedicated to the preservation of the American Republic, i.e., to American democracy.

The Story of the Three Little American Citizens
Once upon a time, there were three little American citizens. The time for them to leave home and seek their fortunes in the world had come.  Before they left, their mother told each of them, “Whatever you do, do it the best that you can because your best work is all you can reasonably expect from yourself.”  
The first little American citizen decided to build his house out of straw (read: kept their head down and their mouth shut and never voted) because it was the easiest thing to do.

One night the big bad wolf (read: The United States Federal Government), who dearly loved to eat little American citizens’ liberties came along and saw the first little American citizen in his house of straw.   He howled "Let me in, Let me in, little American citizen or I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house in!"
"Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin", replied the first little American citizen.
But of course the Federal-wolf did blow the house in and ate all the first little American citizens’ liberties.

The second little American citizen built his house out of sticks (read: occasionally offered an opinion and occasionally voted).  And this was a little bit stronger than a straw house.

That same night the big bad Federal-wolf who dearly loved to eat little American citizens’ liberties came along and saw the second little American citizen in his house of sticks.  He howled "Let me in, Let me in, little American citizen or I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house in!"

The third little American citizen built his house out of bricks (each brick was etched with the phrase “First Amendment” as he often contributed his ideas to the public commons, he stood up and fought for truth, peace, justice, equality, tolerance and compassion and he voted in every election). 

That same night the big bad Federal-wolf who dearly loved to eat little American citizens’ liberties came along and saw the third little American citizen in his house of ‘First Amendment’ etched bricks.  He howled "Let me in, Let me in, little American citizen or I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house in!"
"Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin", replied the third little American citizen.

Well, the Federal wolf huffed and puffed but he could not blow down that brick house.
But the Federal wolf was a sly old wolf and he climbed up on the roof to look for a way into the brick house to eat up that American’s liberties.

The third little American citizen saw the wolf climb up on the roof and lit a roaring fire in the fireplace and placed on it a large kettle of water
(Activism is the fire, and the definition of activism is:  The action of being a good and involved citizen in American democracy)
(The large kettle of water is the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Indpendence because our rights were not given to us by the government, they are our rights by virtue of our very existence endowed to us by the Creator (be that Evolution or God or something else):   We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all persons are created equal (that means a poor person is equal to a rich person); We own our rights and may exercise those rights whenever and however we damn well please.

When the wolf finally found the hole in the chimney, he crawled down and went KERSPLASH!!! right into that kettle of water and that was the end of the citizen’s troubles with the big bad Federal wolf.

I hope to see as many people as possible at the anti-war action in Washington, D.C. on December 16th (next week).  I will be traveling to Washington, D.C. from San Francisco to participate in this action.   I urge as many of you to join us as we Wage Peace at the White House.

As you can see, after I challenged the Federal Government to do something last night, they have done nothing because there is nothing they can do about it. There is nothing to fear, folks, you have a right to exercise Free Speech and participate in the democratic system anytime you wish. So be a good citizen and patriot by speaking out and getting involved.
As to my comments last night, please understand that I do not have a martyr complex, I definitely do not want to be a martyr.  When I was on active-duty military service as a Paratrooper-Infantry, I was willing to sacrifice my life for my fellow soldiers and I was willing to sacrifice my life for my country, and today I am still willing to make that sacrifice to save lives by applying the necessary political pressue to end the war and to preserve the American Republic.   But mark my words, I would rather remain free and alive doing it.  I do what I do because I deeply love my country and I hope you understand that.

I just think that protesting the war is best way to save the lives of the troops because ultimately it will apply enough political pressure to force the politicians to end to the war.


The reason why President Obama is not withdrawing from Afghanistan is because he is placing politics above the lives of the troops who are dying at in the continuing wars on Afghanistan and Iraq. If you want to see a politician move, it is first necessary to give them a good swift kick in the ass, then another and an...other and another and another. Wage it......wage peace.

This is just an outgrowth of the ridiculous notion of the Unitary-Executive, which is just nice way of saying, elected Imperial dictator.
If the President of the United States has the right to assassinate American citizens as President Obama has asserted, and if the President is a public servant to the people and if the people are the ultimate stewards of self-government, then following this line of logic, does that mean that the people have a right to assassinate the President of the United States?
The answer, of course, is no. No American citizen has a right to assassinate a President of the United States, and conversely, no American President of the United States has any right to assassinate any American citizen. If such a President acts upon such a lawless dictate, then that changes things dramatically.  First such an illegal dictate should be legally challenged. 
If the President is permitted this power, then it must be used in extreme cases only and the standards by which it is used must be publicly enumerated and requiring judicial oversight.  Clearly, claiming such unconstitutional, illegitimate and illegal power is frightening and is totally contrary to any known principle of a standing Republic.




I stand on principle in defense of all the Amendments in the U.S. Bill of Rights.  I do not selectively pick and choose, in a partisan and unprincipled manner, the Amendments I like versus those I don't like.  No, I stand if favor of all Amendments in the Bill of Rights.
So what are these Amendments?   These are your fundamental rights and you entitled to use them anytime you damn well please:



The Bill of Rights

First Amendment –  Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Fifth Amendment – No person shall be held to answer for any capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

Sixth Amendment – In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district where in the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defense.

Seventh Amendment – In suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise re-examined in any court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law.

Eighth Amendment – Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

Ninth Amendment – The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

Tenth Amendment – The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Yesterday, the Executive Committee of Veterans For Peace voted to break all commercial ties with the Amazon Corporation and call for our members to boycott eBay Corp. and PayPal Corp. This includes, but is not limited to,




* Removing the Amazon link from the VFP website. Previously we had encouraged our members to use this link when making purchases from Amazon Corp., as a fundraising method for our organization.



* Urging our members, supporters and the public to boycott Amazon, eBay and PayPal corporations.



* Urging Julian Assange and the Wikileaks team to continue their fight in the most important area of free speech: government secrets.


The U.S. Justice Department is reportedly considering charging Assange under the Espionage Act. This much-discredited and little-used law was last invoked against journalists, unsuccessfully, in the failed Pentagon Papers case in 1971. However, prosecution and conviction under this act, passed in 1917 to stifle dissent during WWI, may have little to do with espionage and everything to do with government repression.

For example, the federal government used the Espionage Act to prosecute Gene Debs, the great union organizer and socialist presidential candidate, for a 1918 Canton Ohio speech against U.S. involvement in the "Great War."

Another citizen prosecuted in the same period under the same law, according to Kevin Zeese, director of Voters for Peace, was Rose Pastor Stokes, sentenced to ten years in prison for a letter to the Kansas City Star, saying "no government which is for the profiteers can also be for the people, and I am for the people while the government is for the profiteers."

The government-war-private corporation axis is exposed fully in this case. Credit card companies Mastercard and Visa, along with giant online retailer Ebay Corp., owner of PayPal Corp., have voluntarily joined Amazon Corp. in answering the government's request to block WikiLeaks' funding in an effort to keep additional information from a citizenry increasingly fed up with war, secrecy and corporate power.

VFP gave imprisoned Army PFC, Bradley Manning, its Courage of Conscience award earlier this year for releasing documents detailing U.S. war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan. Really good article below to gain additional perspective about Wikileaks and the response. I would argue, however, that 1) it is simply too soon to adequately measure the impact of the Wikileaks on the war and 2) What Operation Payback does is not cyber-war, it is cyber-vandalism, at best. Personally, I think a consumer led, economic boycott of said companies would be a far more effective activist tool.

Now, there probably are a few select secrets that are at times better kept from the public eye, e.g, how to make WMD in your garage and other such secrets that should remain secret. And certainly names and troop movements should be always be protected and Wikileaks has been engaged in making sure this happens. The people in government are not inherently evil, folks, rather just like any of us ordinary folk, they are a combination of good and evil and neither and both and loving and hating and everything else like any other human being, although they do same to share a penchant knack for lying. So the question becomes, how do we move them from their current behavior to a new behavior? Anyone can sit around and bitch and moan about how terrible they all are, but we need to offer solutions to be truly productive. We can help lead them in a new direction. I think that capability lies within each of us. I would argue that we can inspire them to act differently, lead by example thereby helping chart a new and approximated course ahead to follow if they chose. And to that end, we can form cogent and logical arguments and express those arguments widely in such a convincing manner explaining the benefits to them and to us. At the same time we must flexible enough to understand that this new course will not always be easy or perfect. But I think we can inspire them to make the policy more principled while also profitable. Striking this balance is never easy but it is more sustainable. People sometimes say, "But I am only one person and what can one person do?" Well, all I can say is this: Imagine if Martin Luther King, Jr. or Gandhi had copped the same hopeless attitude. Would the result in the world have been different? Maybe. Probably. Does history make the person or does the person make the history? Good question but I think it is a combination of both. We must first step forward and take the initiative. Yes you can. Yes I can. Yes we can.

Yesterday, the Executive Committee of Veterans For Peace voted to break all commercial ties with the Amazon Corporation and call for our members to boycott eBay Corp. and PayPal Corp. This includes, but is not limited to,




* Removing the Amazon link from the VFP website. Previously we had encouraged our members to use this link when making purchases from Amazon Corp., as a fundraising method for our organization.



* Urging our members, supporters and the public to boycott Amazon, eBay and PayPal corporations.



* Urging Julian Assange and the Wikileaks team to continue their fight in the most important area of free speech: government secrets.


The U.S. Justice Department is reportedly considering charging Assange under the Espionage Act. This much-discredited and little-used law was last invoked against journalists, unsuccessfully, in the failed Pentagon Papers case in 1971. However, prosecution and conviction under this act, passed in 1917 to stifle dissent during WWI, may have little to do with espionage and everything to do with government repression.

For example, the federal government used the Espionage Act to prosecute Gene Debs, the great union organizer and socialist presidential candidate, for a 1918 Canton Ohio speech against U.S. involvement in the "Great War."

Another citizen prosecuted in the same period under the same law, according to Kevin Zeese, director of Voters for Peace, was Rose Pastor Stokes, sentenced to ten years in prison for a letter to the Kansas City Star, saying "no government which is for the profiteers can also be for the people, and I am for the people while the government is for the profiteers."

The government-war-private corporation axis is exposed fully in this case. Credit card companies Mastercard and Visa, along with giant online retailer Ebay Corp., owner of PayPal Corp., have voluntarily joined Amazon Corp. in answering the government's request to block WikiLeaks' funding in an effort to keep additional information from a citizenry increasingly fed up with war, secrecy and corporate power.

VFP gave imprisoned Army PFC, Bradley Manning, its Courage of Conscience award earlier this year for releasing documents detailing U.S. war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan. Resistance to the attack on WikiLeaks and Assange is also growing and VFP considers it important to do what we can to join that resistance.

Documents released Friday by the National Archives shed new light on the genesis of the phrase in the televised address, which Eisenhower delivered on Jan. 17, 1961, three days before his successor’s inauguration. Before settling on the phrase "military-industrial-complex," the original text called for the phrase, 'war-based-industrial-complex.' Isn't that interesting?
"War-based-industrial-complex' was the original language........hmmm, how interesting. That explains a lot, doesn't it? Especially, since the 1960's, the United States has been largely on the warpath around the globe, with a particular... uptick in perpetual warfare since the fall of the Soviet Union which was supposed to provide a 'peace-dividend' but never did. I wonder why............

You shouldn't have to noodle too long on that question, folks:

Now if you read through Eisenhower's entire speech, remember the historical-context in which he is speaking:  It is the height of the Cold-War, the Soviets and their ideology span the globe and there are two distinct wars of ideas and militaries that are each competing for global dominance against each other and so, at this time in history, a large military-industrial-complex was somewhat warranted as an adequate defense against Soviet global domination.   Today, such a threat simply no longer exists and so since the same threat is no longer prevalent
, the need for a massive war-based-industrial-complex is also no longer warranted or needed.   Thus, the main point is that nowadays, folks, it (the military-industrial-complex) needs to constantly re-create new wars to fight in order for it to perpetuate itself by continually creating a reason for it to exist.  Most of these threats are not real threats, rather they are artificial and fabricated in order to keep war, and thus the military-industrial-complex alie and well.  This is the reason why we are locked in an unnecessary and illegitate cycle of wars of aggression upon nations that have not attacked us.  We must vastly improve our National Security and our foreign policy by shifting our budgets away from the destructive/counter-productive to National Security force known as the military-industrial-complex and slowly begin to wean our military-dependent economy off and away from this highly damaging force to American credibility in the world.  That is, in a nutshell, the monumentally difficult challenge that lies ahead for America in the 21st century is too dramatically curtail military spending, dramatically reduce our debt and deficits and begin to re-invest our resources into finding new ways of cultivating economic prosperity to make America a more competitive force in a changing world.  It is by economic power, not military power, that promises to sustain American prosperity well into the future.   We simply cannot afford to sink so much of our treasure
into a venture that is so ultimately destructive and corrusive to our policies, our principles, our morals, our economic growth, our economic diversity and our democratic character.   We must together chart a brighter future more dependent on perpetual peace, perpetual trade and perpetual prosperity than sinking our common fortunes into the counter-productive and highly destructive force of perpetual war.

My only comment is that referring to what is happening on the Internet as a 'cyber-war' is a dangerous term to use which opens the whole issue up to further unwarranted government interference so I would be more careful about using such terms.  At best, what is happing on the Internet can best be described as pockets of cyber-vandalism.   As I have said before and will say again, I don't cyber-vandalism is particularly effective as an activist tool, rather I think consumer-led boycotts would be far more effective in the long-run.  Let us be clear on the definition of war and let us not confuse what's happening on the net with the real tragedy, loss of human life, loss of limbs and loss of mental stability the real war actually incurs upon those who engage in it.   Let us be honest, what is happening on the net is not resulting death, maiming, destruction and casualties, there is no blood being spilled.  What is happening on the Internet is completely different from war.
The dictionary definition of war:  A conflict carried on by force of arms, as between nations or between parties within a nation; warfare, as by land, sea, or air.

Sometimes a law is just on its face and unjust in its application. For instance, I have been arrested on a charge of parading without a permit. But such an ordinance becomes unjust when it is used to maintain segregation and to deny citizens the First-Amendment privilege of peaceful assembly and protest.

I hope you are able to see the distinction I am trying to point out. In no sense do I advocate evading or defying the law, as would the rabid segregationist. That would lead to anarchy. One who breaks an unjust law must do so openly, lovingly, and with a willingness to accept the penalty. I submit that an individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for law.

Of course, there is nothing new about this kind of civil disobedience. It was evidenced sublimely in the refusal of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego to obey the laws of Nebuchadnezzar, on the ground that a higher moral law was at stake. It was practiced superbly by the early Christians, who were willing to face hungry lions and the excruciating pain of chopping blocks rather than submit to certain unjust laws of the Roman Empire. To a degree, academic freedom is a reality today because Socrates practiced civil disobedience. In our own nation, the Boston Tea Party represented a massive act of civil disobedience.

We should never forget that everything Adolf Hitler did in Germany was "legal" and everything the Hungarian freedom fighters did in Hungary was "illegal." It was "illegal" to aid and comfort a Jew in Hitler's Germany. Even so, I am sure that, had I lived in Germany at the time, I would have aided and comforted my Jewish brothers. If today I lived in a Communist country where certain principles dear to the Christian faith are suppressed, I would openly advocate disobeying that country's antireligious laws.

I must make two honest confessions to you, my Christian and Jewish brothers. First, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season." Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.

I had hoped that the white moderate would understand that law and order exist for the purpose of establishing justice and that when they fail in this purpose they become the dangerously structured dams that block the flow of social progress. I had hoped that the white moderate would understand that the present tension in the South is a necessary phase of the transition from an obnoxious negative peace, in which the Negro passively accepted his unjust plight, to a substantive and positive peace, in which all men will respect the dignity and worth of human personality. On the noble action of Bradley Manning:
Held for seven months in solitary confinement......how's that for protecting civil liberties (read: psychological torture) under the Obama administration? The reality is this: Julian Assange likely cannot be convicted of anything without Manning's testimony and now that Manning has been virtually tortured in custody, it is unlikely he will be convicted on all charges either.

Unfortunately, it is unlikely that the American people will rise up against anything in any kind of revolution because they can always just turn on their television, vegg-out and ignore what the government does.  Fortunately, as history has shown, revolutions rarely require majority involvement or even majority-support since most revolutions are performed by rather small minorites of people.  (if you want to learn about that, then crack a book on history.......I am trying to give citizenship lessons here, not history lessons)  My objective is not revolution in the classic sense but rather a revolution of the means by which the people acquire information about their government.  I don't really write too much of my own stuff, folks, and I don't intend to do so either.   I intend to put the means of acquiring information in your hands so that you can perform your own research and come to your own conclusions, and I trust the vast majority of the American people to come to the correct conclusion because most Americans have a sense of right and wrong, bear a particular and common degree of moral principles and in general also exhibit a certain amount of common-sense.  I find that if you enable the average American citizen with the right information, they invariably make the right decision, not always but moreso than not.   They just need better data points rooted in reason and delivered in a way that is strongly, emotionally expressed.   My intention is not to write my own stuff, per se, as it is to inform my fellow citizens of the means to educate themselves, i.e., teaching them how to fish as opposed to just giving them a fish to eat.

In 2010 we have made alot of progress. 
Sure, we still have a long way to go to end the wars and bring the troops home.   But think now how the world has changed already--while the war in Iraq continues, the number of troops there has been reduced to 50,000 and while there still exist many American mercenaries there, the Iraq government wants them out-----that's a big change folks and it is all happening because of committed individuals working together in the American anti-war movement and around the world.
Think also this--the light has been shone on the darkness--the light being the revelation of our foreign policy by Wikileaks, Julian Assange and Bradley Manning---and the rat's and the cockroaches who devise our foreign policy are scurrying in every direction---that's a sea change, folks.   It is laid bare the evidence of how the American Empire is administered and it sure isn't pretty.   It is the first of many nails in the coffin of the American Empire now as we fast approach the dusk of that age---this is also a sea change.
So while there is much work to do like ending both wars, bringing the troops home and saving their lives and all the civilians who are being needlessly murdered for our government's quest for natural resources as desired by various corporations and industries, there is much that already has been done and it has been done because of you, because of me, because of us small, insigficant folks working together to make the most significant and relevant changes in our recent human history.  Yes, we can.
Don't lose hope now, there is much work yet to be done, you--every one of you who has involved themselves in the cause of peace and democracy and liberty, has performed brilliantly, you are doing a fabulous job---but what is most required to change things is perseverance, folks. You must agitate and agitate and agitate and agitate and agitate and agitate and agitate.  Never give up, never quit, never stop waging peace.  Yes you can, Yes I can, Yes we can.  Just like the motto of the Airborne Corps (paratroopers---ALL THE WAY, AIRBORNE!!!!).  We will go all the way and we will succeed and many things will change if and only if you keep hope alive and if you not an engaged citizen, then get engaged, and if already are an engaged citizen, then stay engaged for the arc of moral justice is long but justice is on our side.
